about
Barrelling from dark pummelling dance-punk into glittering tropical pop, this bitesize odyssey weaves a tale of psychedelic soft drinks and late-stage-capitalist dread. “Conquistador” tells the story of The Amazona Corporation, who bastardise a hallucinogenic, South American ritual in order to exploit those in search of self discovery. Sinister yet soaring, “Conquistador” sounds like Everything Everything having a fist fight with The Orielles.
lyrics
There’s a party in the jungle where nobody moves
A machiavellian dictator’s telling me about his father
I can see the moment where it all went wrong for me
And that guy your mother likes off TV’s vomiting against a tree
I just want to know the truth about myself
Amazona tell me is there something else
You can be my Atahualpa
I’ll be your conquistador, give me more
They’ve started selling it in cans now you can save on flights
Have a tipple on your lunch break and have revelations at your desk
Hopes and aspirations can be altered chemically
And with a renewed sense of purpose you can finish that report by 3
But I don’t want to know the truth about myself
Amazona turn me into someone else
You can be my Atahualpa
I’ll be your conquistador, give me more
And now everything’s falling into place
(drink Amazona, do your job)
Paradise is near I can taste it, think I’ve found what I was looking for
(drink Amazona, do your job)
I’ve got this feeling that nothing is too late, you can just change your plans
I see everything clearly lying underneath this pile of cans
(Drink Amazona, do your job)
I’ll be your conquistador
